Abdelnasser Najjar

Abdelnasser, who served as president of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) and was member of the IFJ Executive Committee from 2010 to 2016, was the first Palestinian journalist leader to address the UN Human Rights Committee.

He led several weeks of demonstrations for the right of movement of Palestinian journalists and was victim of Israeli violence against Palestinian journalists in 2015, when he was hit by a stun grenade on both legs.

The IFJ family wants to honor Najjar’s lifelong track record in defending Palestinian journalists’ rights and it’s commitment with journalism and trade unionism and sends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and PJS colleagues.
