11. Safety of Journalists
Proposed: Executive Committee
The 24th Congress of the IFJ, meeting in Seoul from June 11-16th 2001,
believing that more must be done to integrate the issue of safety at work into the collective bargaining process,
endorses the Code of Principles for the Safe Conduct of Journalism adopted by the Executive Committee and calls for its provisions to be implemented by media around the world.
Congress further instructs the Executive Committee to follow up this work with measures to promote implementation of the Code, including joint actions with media employers including the BBC, CNN, Reuters, APTN and ITN who recently adopted a Code similar to that of the IFJ.
