Journalists’ union launches new campaign for Declaration on Media Freedom in Mauritania

The Union of Mauritanian Journalists (UMJ), an IFJ affiliate, organized a national event on 25 January in Nouakchott bringing together more than 70 editors, trade union leaders, academics and human rights organizations. During the event delegates signed up to support the Declaration on Media Freedom in the Arab World.

The Union of Mauritanian Journalists (UMJ), an IFJ affiliate, organized a national event on 25 January in Nouakchott bringing together more than 70 editors, trade union leaders, academics and human rights organizations. During the event delegates signed up to support the Declaration on Media Freedom in the Arab World.

“The great debate that took place on Thursday thanks to the Union of Mauritanian Journalists (UMJ) and the large number of associations that signed the Declaration show the commitment of all Mauritanian civil society to the Declaration on Media Freedom in the Arab world promoted by the IFJ," said Philippe Leruth, President of the IFJ.
