The journalist for Unión TV was found dead in the municipality of La Unión, in the north of the department of Nariño. Although details of the circumstances of his death are still unknown, preliminary information from local media indicate that he was killed on his way to cover a story in the early hours of Monday 28 November.
Media reports pointed to signs that his killing might have been linked to his publications, including the one shortly before he was found dead in which he said he had been rreceiving intimidating messages linked to the subjects he was reporting on. One of the recurring issues he reported on was the growing insecurity in La Unión.
