Poudel had also been working as a sub-editor for the local Mechi Times, and was the former secretary of the Jhapa Press Union.

Poudel was reportedly fatally stabbed by an unidentified group of men in the eastern Nepal district of Jhapa, at a hotel in the Birtamod Bus Park.

According to police, a number of people have been detained in connection with the matter.

Police also announced that they are investigating the case to discern the motives behind the attack.

Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of FNJ is underway in Kathmandufollowing the incident.
