The director of the digital media Noticias Minuto a Minuto was attacked and killed in the community of Morro Mazatán, in the state of Oaxaca. Cabrera, who had survived another attempt on his life by gunmen at his home with his family last year, had received threats and had been admitted into the Mechanism for the Protection of Journalists a few weeks before his killings.
But, according to media reports, he did not have the assistance and location button that allows him to report a situation of danger at the time of his murder.
Cabrera previously worked for the website La Policíaca, focusing on local political issues, for which he also received numerous threats.
