The body of the photojournalist, who had received death threats and was admitted into the national mechanism for the protection of journalists and human rights defenders of the Interior Ministry, was found lifeless with gunshots wounds and blows to the face in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo Hoy State.
Francisco Romero Diaz was also a crime reporter in the city of Playa del Carmen and collaborated with various media, including Playa News whose founder Rubén Prat was murdered in July 2018.
