The correspondent for Tabasco Hoy newspaper based in Huimanguillo was gunned down outside her home by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike.
The veteran journalist, who had worked at the newspaper for 15 years covering violence in Huimanguillo and had received death threats, was shot dead as she was arriving home. According to the Sindicato Nacional de Redactores de la Prensa (SNRP), an IFJ affiliate, Ms Garduza had recently stopped signing most of her reports in her name.
