IFJ urges Mexican authorities to investigate the killing of a journalist

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) expressed its great concern over the killing of a fourth Mexican journalist this year and supports its Mexican affiliate the Sindicato Nacional de Redactores de Prensa (SNRP) in its appeal to the Attorney General of Tabasco (FGE) and the Special Prosecutor for Crimes against Freedom of Expression (FEADLE) to investigate this death immediately.

According to the SNRP, Ismael Diaz Lopez was killed on 19 June at his home in Tabasco, southeast Mexico.

Since the beginning of 2015 the IFJ and the SNRP recorded the murders of four Mexican journalists. Violence and crime in the country have silenced the victims. Censorship in some media is forcing journalists to go into exile.
