The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is backing a new global campaign to tackle gender-based violence at work. The campaign, co-ordinated by the ITUC, will kick-off on 14 February and run for 23 days up to International Women’s Day on 8 March. The campaign takes on added importance in light of the findings of a recent IFJ survey which revealed that almost one in two women journalists have suffered sexual harassment, psychological abuse, online trolling and others forms of gender-based violence (GBV) while working. Here’s how individuals and organisations can get involved. 14 February – 8 March 2018: Join the 23 days of action to STOP gender-based violence at work! Please find attached examples of Twitter and Facebook messages you can use - more tools are available on the 23 days of action webpage including infographics, logos and a GBV factsheet Your mobilising, organising and lobbying is critical to build and ensure governments’ support for an ILO Convention and a Recommendation at the ILO Conference in June 2018. Our call to action starts on 14 February, known as “V-Day" (a global activist movement, led by “One Billion Rising’’, to end violence against women and girls), and runs until 8 March, International Women’s Day. Join the One Billion rising on 14 February in Solidarity to End the Exploitation of Women. Check out the list of events that are scheduled in your country. Twitter hashtags related to V-Day are #RiseInsolidarity and #rise4revolution in addition to #VDay and #1BillionRising.
