New Center for Gender Media Studies launched in Russia

On February 5, the Moscow State University (MSU) and the Russian union of journalists (RUJ) will present the newly established Center for Gender Media Studies.

The Center was established officially as part of the MSU Journalist Faculty body as a result of the gender discussions that took place at the 26th IFJ World Congress in Moscow. Faculty deputy dean Elena Vartanova presented the join MSU and RUJ initiative at the roundtable “ overcoming Gender Stereotypes in Countries in Transition” sponsored by IFJ, UNESCO and Ford Foundation.

A new publication ( edited in 2007 and based on Congress presentations and IFJ materials on gender equality) will be presented at the conference as well.

All scholars and media professionals are welcome to take part on Center activities.
