2004 EFJ Resolution on Revision of European Works Councils

Tabled by DJV, Germany

The General Meeting of the EFJ instructs the EFJ Steering Committee to start a campaign in co-operation with the EFJ secretariat and the Labour Rights Expert Group with the aim to include in the European Works Council Directive (1996) elements of co-determination following the German Industrial Constitution Law (Betriebsverfassungsgesetz). The campaign shall also aim at getting rid of the German tendency rule, which exists in the current directive in those countries where the so-called ‘Tendenzschutz’ still applies to media companies.
