In the framework of the regional project financed by Union to Union, the International Federation of Journalists sponsored a Workshop Seminar with the Dominican National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) from 14th to 16th August.
The conclusions drawn at the end of the workshop included the decision to draft a manifesto as a union action plan, establishing the need to require journalism companies, as part of the collective bargaining or as a specific, separate demand, to contract life assurance to protect workers against the risks of the profession.
At the same time, it was resolved to demand zero tolerance among the legal authorities for crimes and aggression against journalists, in order to bring an end to the climate of impunity and achieve some measure of justice for victims and their families for the crimes.
