Facing challenges together The media world is going through a transition phase with an uncertain outcome: will there still be room for journalists committed to the quality of information in the future? Will they be able to work freely? The number of countries where press freedom is under pressure continues to increase: political pressure here; economic pressure there. This situation calls for a united response from us: only together can we defend our rights and our profession. In this perspective, the appointment of negotiators to reconcile IFJ unions and member associations in Africa is an encouraging signal. It is high time to take into account our common goals, and to forget everything that divides us. Philippe Leruth IFJ President
