Decent work is about getting paid fairly, enjoying equal treatment irrespective of gender, age or origins, enjoying safe working environment, social protection and being able to organise collectively without fear or pressure.

Unfortunately, few journalists can claim to work under such conditions across the globe. World Day for Decent Work on 7 October will provide us with an opportunity to recall that press freedom depends on the working conditions under which journalists fulfill their mission of informing the public. It is also an opportunity to recall that unions are there to ensure better working conditions to all, notably through the adoption of collective agreements.

Stand up for your jobs on 7 October!
