IFJ Welcomes Opening of Palestinian Union Offices in Gaza

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has welcomed the news that the Gaza offices of its affiliate, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), have been reopened. The IFJ has given its full backing to the reopening of the offices, which were closed by Hamas four years ago in October 2010, and has given its support to the PJS which is committed to uniting Palestinian  journalists  and defending their rights and freedoms.“We welcome the news that the offices in Gaza of our affiliate, the Palestinian Journalists Union, are open. This is a positive step for media freedom,” said IFJ President Jim Boumelha. “We urge all working Palestinian journalists to unite around the PJS and to stand as one in a message of solidarity and support.”
