The permanent correspondent in Port-au-Prince for Génération 80 radio, which broadcasts from Port-de-Paix in the North-West department, died after being hit in the head by a tear gas canister near a Haitian National Police station. The attack took place as media workers had gathered at the Delmas 33 police station in Port-au-Prince to demand the release of Robeste Dimanche, a reporter who had been arbitrarily arrested at his workplace, Radio Télé Zénithin.

According to the statement by the Association des Journalists Haïtiens (AJH), other journalists were injured by the Departmental Unit for the Maintenance of Order (Udmo) "who fired live ammunition and used tear gas canisters and other tools to repel media workers. The journalists' working materials and equipment were also confiscated".
