4. COBEG: Editorial Budgets for Freelance Remuneration

The EFJ-AGM recommends the new Collective Bargaining Expert Group (COBEG) to consider the question and to make proposals, how editorial budgets for freelances' remunerations can be subjects of collective agreements.

The participants of the last Central European Group meeting (EFJ member unions from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia and Switzerland) felt it is not only sufficient to increase remuneration tariffs for freelance work, but it is also necessary to increase the editorial budgets as a whole. Only by this freelances can really profit from better tariffs, and conflicts between employed and freelance journalists can be avoided.
