Letter of support from IFJ General Secretary Aidan White

Brussels, February 27, 2002 Dear Colleagues, The International Federation of Journalists welcomes the initiative of the International Press Centre Lagos to organize a two-day round table on the 26th and 27th of February as part of its the campaign for the adoption of the freedom of information bill by the Nigerian National Assembly. The IFJ is delighted to see that its partners established during the Media for Democracy in Nigeria (MFD) programme, the Independent Journalism Centre (IJC), the Media Rights Agenda (MRA) and the Journalists for Democratic rights (JODER) are fully engaged in this initiative. We hope that your efforts will create awareness and facilitate the passage of the FOI bill into law, thus ensuring the right of access to information that promotes public accountability and good governance. We offer our full and on-going support in this regard. With my best wishes, Aidan White IFJ General Secretary See also: The Communique from the Round Table on February 26, 2002
