From the National Union of Journalists (Great Britain) and the National Union of Journalists (Ireland)

Recognising the failure of the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers to establish rules creating transparency within the institutions of the European Union, as provided for under the Treaty of Amsterdam, this GM of the European Federation of Journalists:

Calls on the Steering Committee to raise awareness among affiliates of the need to put sustained pressure on their governments to ensure that the principles of openness and transparency provided for in the Treaty are honoured by the European Commission, the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament.

This GM further calls on the Steering Committee to campaign for directives governing Freedom of Information within the institutions of the European Union.
