IFJ: Special meeting following Government threats against Iranian journalists working abroad

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) will hold a special meeting on the issue of recent governmental and security threats to the Iranian journalists working abroad.

In recent weeks dozens of Iranian journalists working abroad and their family members in Iran have been subjected to severe threats and intimidation by the Iranian security forces and judiciary.

The meeting will review and discuss the issue of state-sponsored legal restrictions, intimidations, and threats directed against critical Iranian journalists working for Persian media outside Iran. The legal, political and international aspects of these threats to the human rights of journalists will be discussed.

A number of journalists who have been subjected to threats will  join us and share their stories with IFJ leaders.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at the offices of the IFJ in Brussels.
