IFJ co-organises international conference on social media in Doha

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) will co-organise the international conference “Social Media: Challenges and Ways to Promote Freedoms and Protect Activists” in Doha, on February 16 and 17.

The two-day conference, held in Qatar, is organised by the IFJ together with the European Parliament, The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar (NHRC), the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI). 

Over 300 international organisations, universities, think-tanks, journalist and trade unions, major specialised companies and social networks will attend the sessions. The conference will include speeches from prominent human rights, press freedom advocates, UN Special Rapporteurs, and experts anti-terrorism and international law as well as IFJ unions' leaders.

The conference wil involve interactive working groups and a planery debate to address the implications of the digital age on activism and freedom of speech.
