EFJ-Survey on Women Journalists in Europe: Profession tends to feminisation

In Europe an estimated average of 47 per cent of journalists are women, according to the preliminary results of the EFJ survey released at the EFJ conference in Bled, Slovenia on April 8. "However, women are still not adequately represented in decision making positions in the profession and despite the European Union’s initiatives, they haven’t come much further in the objective of equal pay," said Dr. Annegret Witt-Barthel, IFJ gender council’s European co-ordinator in charge of the survey.
