Asia Pacific Regional Bulletin - September 2021

The IFJ Asia-Pacific Regional Bulletin September, 2021 spotlights the grave situation of thousands of Afghan journalists since the Taliban's capture of Kabul on August 15, with many suffering threats and violence, under severe financial stress and displaced from their homes. Cambodian media have expressed concern over the government launched 'Monitoring Committee for Journalism Ethics Practice, and South Korea's proposed amendments to the Press Arbitration Act pose threats to the nation's journalists. The bulletin also highlights the IFJ's emergency financial support for journalists in Afghanistan as well as specialist support for female journalists.
