Quality in Journalism
The IFJ believes that freedom of speech and freedom of information are the foundation of journalistic work. The IFJ calls for editorial independence and self-regulation of media, and encourages debate about ethics of journalism. The IFJ promotes professional standards, such as the Declaration of the Principles of Conduct of Journalists.
Concerned about falling standards in the face of media globalisation, the IFJ in 2001 launched a Quality campaign, aimed at defending ethical rights of journalists, promoting independent journalism, and campaigning for public service values in broadcasting and limits to media concentration.
