IFJ Conference: Media, Armed Conflict & Hate Speech

The International Federation of Journalists’ conference on ‘Media, Armed Conflict and Hate speech’, supported by UNESCO, took place on 25 April, 2014, and discussed the negative impact hate speech in media can have during armed conflicts.

The conference considered the lessons learned from the role Rwandan media played during the genocide of Tutsi in 1994 and in other conflicts where media fuelled hatred and violence.
