IFJ HEAD OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
Job Description
The International Federation of Journalists is seeking to appoint a Head of Administration and Finance, based in Brussels.
The Head of Administration is responsible to the General Secretary for the smooth running of all administrative and financial functions of the IFJ secretariat. He/she also has responsibility for the organisation of all statutory IFJ meetings and for maintaining the official record of the IFJ. He/she is expected to maintain oversight of IFJ finances and to advise the General Secretary and Administrative Committee on financial matters.
The IFJ Head of Administration and Finance must have the following skills and experience:
1. Experience of managing staff and the ability to motivate teams to deliver high quality services.
2. Experience of managing the administrative functions of a busy office, including excellent IT skills and an eye for detail.
3. A solid understanding of financial management and experience of managing budgets.
4. Experience of managing relations with suppliers to ensure that they deliver on contractual obligations and provide value for money.
5. Experience in organising major conferences and events.
6. A practical understanding of the trade union movement, with experience either as an active union member or as a full-time official.
7. Be fluent in English and French or Spanish. Fluency in the other language will be of advantage.
